I’m a teacher with a limited budget but unlimited desire to travel.
I wanted to create this blog as a way to prove that finances don’t have to limit you from exploring the world. My trips are planned around school calendars, constrained by a teacher’s salary, and shaped by the very real question of how far can I stretch this paycheck? Along the way, I’ve learned that traveling cheaply doesn’t mean traveling poorly, you just have to make the limited budget work for you.
Here, I want to write about all the steps of hyperbudget travel, from ideation all the way through completion of the trip. In the programming field we call this “full-stack”, being responsible for all aspects of a project (or in this case trip).
Here I plan to chronicle my travels as they actually happen: the overnight buses, the altitude headaches, the surprisingly great hostels, the days where everything goes wrong, and the moments that make it all worth it. I will focus on practical costs, logistics, and decision-making, but I also care deeply about the story behind the place—first impressions, cultural context, and how travel feels when you’re not rushing through it.
